ABSTRACT

The COMMECT project researched environmental impacts of connectivity solutions in rural agricultural use cases. Life cycle assessment shows how the technology affects climate change, resource use, and other environmental impacts. LCA was implemented in four different living labs and five different use cases:

In-Field Microclimate and Crop Monitoring in Vineyards in Luxembourg
Real-time video monitoring of the loading or unloading process of piglets in Denmark
Microclimate Monitoring for Early Disease and Pest Detection and Monitoring of Pest Insect Traps in olive orchards in Türkiye
Shared Digital Agriculture Platform in Serbia

Assessments considers impacts of the solutions themselves and changes they cause in their agricultural applications. This webinar will tell you what is the potential to reduce different environmental impacts of the rural agricultural applications with different technological solutions. While the case studies focus on climate change impacts, 15 more environmental impact categories were studied.
