Creation of a Shared Rural Infrastructure
Challenge:
Rural areas often face challenges with inadequate network connectivity and unstable power supplies, hindering the efficiency of agricultural devices and data collection.
Aim:
Establish a robust rural infrastructure to provide reliable network connectivity and power for agricultural devices using sustainable energy sources.
Solution:
Deploy mobile solar generators designed as foldable tractor trailers with up to 30kW capacity to:
- Power LoRaWAN gateways and 4G/5G routers for stable sensor connectivity.
- Operate electric irrigation pumps, replacing fuel-run pumps.
- Supply power to video cameras for crop monitoring.
- Provide energy for edge ML devices handling video, audio, and sensor data processing.
These generators will ensure the required power for various agricultural operations and must be mobile, durable, and equipped with batteries to support continuous operation for at least 12 hours. The establishment of a reliable LPWAN network will facilitate data collection and transmission, enabling real-time access and decision-making.
Benefit:
This use case enhances agricultural efficiency by improving data gathering and network connectivity, fostering collaboration among farmers, and reducing environmental impact through the use of renewable energy. It also supports community building and economic growth in rural areas by providing stable and scalable infrastructure.
