The COMMECT project presented research at the IEEE WiMob 2024 Conference held in Paris this October. Poonam Maurya, from Aalborg University, presented the research focused on boosting connectivity in rural areas through Cellular-Satellite Multi-Connectivity.
The presentation highlighted the innovative use of machine learning to enhance network performance in regions where cellular coverage is challenging. The Random Forest Classifier, developed as part of the research, predicts throughput, enabling smart activation of either satellite or cellular links. This solution proved effective, significantly improving data rates for remote areas.
