COMMECT at NBM 2025: Co-creating Value for Rural Connectivity
On 25–26 June 2025, COMMECT researcher Rick Gilsing took the stage at the 10th New Business Models (NBM) conference in Reykjavík, hosted by the School of Business Administration at the University of Iceland.
Rick’s presentation drew on findings from Deliverable D3.4 to showcase how private companies, non-profits, government bodies and end-users can collaborate to develop sustainable, scalable connectivity solutions for rural areas.
Key highlights included:
- Collaborative Business Models – multi-actor approaches that share risks, resources and rewards to accelerate broadband rollouts
- Stakeholder Roles – how each partner contributes unique expertise and incentives
- Sustainability Metrics – evidence from D3.4 demonstrating improved deployment efficiency and community impact
Rick’s insights underscored the importance of value co-creation in ensuring that rural connectivity projects are both economically viable and socially beneficial.
